Just a little late

WHEW! It was rough this morning.  I guess I was used to wearing pink, and I still had a few looks that I had not worn but I was ready for a change.  Plus the looks that I had left werent really for a Fun Friday. I may go to happy hour after work, so I wanted to be cute.. and comfortable.. and I reaaaaaally reaaaallllyyy wanted to wear my new Jalisa Lace Back Tall Riding Boots from Avenue.  I adored these boots the moment I saw them. And I liked them so much I bought both colors, but the brown ones I ordered online (and a coat) and they havent come yet.

So I was late (just a little) getting to work, cuz I had no idea what I was going to wear. This is exactly why I select my weeks wardrobe on Sunday or Monday... that way I can easily jump into my clothes during the week.  I guess wearing all that pink got me a little caught up.. but I made it through, lol!
 sweater-Dress Barn; skinny jeans-Ashley Stewart; boots-Avenue; bracelet-Andie's Giveaway

Yea, I had no idea which coat to wear this morning. So I chose between these.
black leather bomber -Lane Bryant
orange double breasted wool coat - Ashley Stewart
green leather jean jacket style - Newport News

Which would you have selected????
I thought that the orange coat was a little to bulky with the sweater. So, I chose to wear the green leather jacket. I thought it added a little color

So I wanted to do a review of the boots that I think are so soo cute!
PROS:
These boots are HAWT! And they are seriously in fashion.  They go well with skinny jeans, denim jeggins, or leggins of any kind.  And I can see myself wearing them with a long denim skirt or even a short denim skirt. I cant wait to get the brown ones in the mail. I even want to find a way to wear them with a dress or skirt.. any suggestions? send me pics.  Another benefit is that they actually fit my calfs (or is it calves?) and I can slip my jeans down in there. I have tried a few different tall boots (some I can fit and others not so much. Mostly I can fit the stretchy boots - either fabric or that fake leather [more on that later]) But this is the first pair that I can slip my jeans down in. I was super excited when I tried these on! .. "These boots is made for walking!"
CONS:
They dont really fit.. I know I know.. silly - but I needed a 7 1/2 and they only come in 7W or 8W.. they skipped the half size all together, duuuuh!!! Some of us do wear 7 1/2.  The other issue I have is that they are not leather. I like quality items. So I would much prefer that these were real leather.  Also, since I had to get an 8W, I think they are a little to slouchy at my ankles. I dont really prefer them to look that way, but oh well. I like them to lay more flush against the flesh (say that a few times, lol)

**Side Note: Hubby wasnt really feelin the boots.. he said they remind him of riding boots from the 80's. And I remember those boots all too well.  In Baltimore we wore riding boots but the lace up was in the front. And we wore "city boots" with the elastic band at the top near the calf. I was lucky enough that my mom actually bought me a pair of riding boots. In a camel color. They were perect. And I am happy to replace those with this new Jalisa pair.. Everything old is new again!

Day 21 .. its a habit (BBCA)

They say that 21 days of anything will make it a habit!  Well folks, I have hit the 21st day of Blogging for Breast Cancer Awareness and it feels great!

mock neck - NY&Co; skirt - Burlington, open cardi - JCPenney; belt - Torrid; boots-Macys

I think I will end this theme on a high note and offer some facts about this deadly disease.  I challenge all of you to become more aware.  If you want to see more BBCA fashions, visit Melissa at A Working Mom's Closet to see what other bloggers are doing in support of this cause.
Twenty One FACTS about
Breast Cancer Awareness
• An estimated 182,800 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2000.
• Approximately 42,200 deaths will occur in women from breast cancer in 2000.

• One in eight women or 12.6% of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.

• Breast cancer risk increases with age and every woman is at risk.

• Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.

• Seventy-seven percent of women with breast cancer are over 50.

• Approximately 1400 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2000 and 400 of those men will die.

• More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.

• Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74.

• Seventy-one percent of black women diagnosed with breast cancer experience a five-year survival rate, while eighty-six percent of white women experience five-year survival.

• The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.

• Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.

• Deodorants and antiperspirants do not cause breast cancer. A 2002 epidemiologic study of 1600 women and other research has shown no correlation.

• Clothing, including under wire bras, does not contribute to getting breast cancer.

• Having large breasts or breast implants does not put a woman at greater risk.

• Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

• Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.

• Over eighty percent of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign such as fibrocystic breast disease.

• Oral contraceptives may cause a slight increase in breast cancer risk; however 10 years after discontinuing use of oral contraceptives the risk is the same as for women who never used the pill.

• Estrogen replacement therapy for over 5 years slightly increases breast cancer risk; however the increased risk appears to disappear 5-10 years after discontinuing the use of estrogen replacement therapy.

• You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

Mail Call! (BBCA Day 17 and 18)

Look what I got in the mail today!! .. I won a giveaway from Christina at Randomness, a la Mode

Lookie what I got inside.  When I saw these shoes I was thinking "WHOA!!!" Now yall know that I dont really wear high pumps like this (anymore, I used to back in the day)..; but when I slipped these on I was shocked that they fit.. and fit comfortably (relatively). But I think I could actually pull these off..
atleast one time. Thanks!
SATURDAY-Morning (BBCA Day 17)
Yup, It was pretty busy. And I had an early start. I wore something very comfortable and casual (and also seen here).
Tunic-FashionBug; denim leggins - Ashley Stewart; necklace - Avon
Lil G (Cousin Nikki's son) won his little football game. It was so cute to watch them play. And ofcourse Little Miss Taylor (Cousin Nikki's daughter) was there and all smiles.

GO WOLFPACK! No. 1 !!!
duuuh, with that scarf on, I had on the colors for the other team! But who cares when I was shouting the loudest for the  Wolfpack!
Saturday-Afternoon
After we left the football game, we went to the market.  The bookclub was coming over at 4p, and I still had to cook.  I made three different soups-butternut squash, potato leek soup, and salmon corn chowder. And we also had string beans, corn bread, and strawberry shortcake. deeelish!
Some of the ladies after the meeting.  I still havent selected a book for us to read, but we have started to select a locale for our book club vacation next year.
Sunday - Theater (BBCA Day - 18)
I got a chance to sleep in a little before the theater. And I needed it because I had to do alot of driving to do.  My mother wasnt feeling well, so I had to pick her up and my little cousin Alice. Which means I had to drive all the way across town. But its was all worth it to spend time with these ladies.
top - Lane Bryant; jeggins - JC Penney; shoes - Macys; necklace - Burlington; leather shrug - Ashley Stewart
I didnt get a pick of Mom, but here is a pic of Alice and I. We really enjoy spending time with each other.  She is such a sweet little girl. Still innocent and a ball of laughs.
Our grandma clicked this pic. How funny is that, lol!

SSSSsssshhhhhh! At the book club meeting, Jackie had on the cutest pair of boots and she was telling me that she even got a pair from the Avenue that could fit her calves. I ran over there before I picked up Alice and I picked up a few things.
2 pair of boots, a pair of slouchy cargo pants, and a pair of camo skinnies (Dots). I cant wait to show you. I got a few other things, but I decided to take some things back.

Its coming and I finally have plans!

So our 2nd wedding anniversary is fast approaching and I finally decided on what I want to do..
We were considering:
TRIP 1

Things to Do: Gambling, Shopping, and hang out by the pool
Pros: Short driving distance, spending time with another couple (Cousin Nikki and her Hubby might join us)
Cons: Been there, Done that (but not with Hubby).  There really arent a gazillion things to do

Remember this?
TRIP 2
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Drive time : 6 hours
Things to Do: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, trolley car sightseeing
Pros; Visiting a locale that we have never been to, Spending quality time driving together
Cons: Driving 6 hours, hotel may be 25 mins from downtown

source
TRIP 3
Location: Tampa, Florida (St Petersburg)
Drive time : nope - Flight time
Things to Do: Sun and Fun
Pros: We have never been here, so we would be visiting a new locale, Cousin Nikki and her Hubby may join us on this trip
Cons: The flight is not direct, so we loose half of a day of fun and sun; The cost of this trip is a little more expensive that the other options.
