Sigma Saturday

Today started with community service with my sorority. I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. I have been a member since spring 1997. The slogan for the sorority is "Greater Service, Greater Progress", so clearly thats a large part of what we do.
Today's event was a Youth Symposium. We talked to youth in a disadvantaged neighborhood about making healthy choices with respect to sex, food, and money. So for teens and preteens we pretty much covered all the bases. We did excersises. We talked about healthy food choices. We had a speaker from a local credit union. And we had a few different speakers about abstinence, safe sex, and teen pregnancy. It was an excellent event with a great turnout.

I wore this outfit, but I think it makes me look a little young. It doesnt really show my 33 years, and that wasnt necessarily on purpose, but its cool, I guess.. Either way, this is what I wore.

Today's Outfit
Jeans with button detail - Lane Bryant
Yellow short sleeve turtleneck - NY&Co
Royal blue cardigan - FashionBug
Bow necklace - F21
Sorority Pin - ???? (its pretty old)
Part of the reason that I joined this sorority was the family heritage. My mother and three of her sisters are all members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. So when I joined the sorority in 1997, I was considered a legacy. Here is a pic of my cousin and I. She recently joined the sorority and she too is a legacy, becuse her mom (my aunt) is also a member. It was a very nice experience to be apart of her induction to the sorority. That was an exciting time, and now we can do different sorority work together. Here is a pic of us at the event today.

The outfit looks great on you, I don't think its too young, its just seems like a laid back look. I love the colors. Oh that is really cool how so many people in your family are part of the sorority! I'm in one as well! :)

Your sense of dress does not define your age but who you are, and your look is casual and probably just right for the occasion. I think what you are doing is just great.

I train volunteers to support people who are isolated and experincing mental health difficulties and I am alway greatful that people are willing to give of their time freely.
