Eloquii Review

They are a breakout from The Limited.  I wasnt sure how I was going to like thier clothing, mostly becasue its so classic and there are not many trendy pieces.  I was confident that the quality would be good, since I know what The Limited quality is like.  And I was also nervous about the cost... I know that The Limited can be pricey.

So, eloquii had a nice sale (spend $150 save $50) around the holiday time, and I jumped on it.. and then they had another sale - ($20.12 on all sweaters), so I jumped again ... and then they had another sale (all outerwear $49.99) - sad to say, I missed this one.  But hopefully my "coat fairy" saw the email I sent him and he will grant atleast one of my wishes... we shall see.

Overall:
I think the Eloquii line is nice. Its definitely a classic look, similar to a Talbots or Anne Taylor.  The few pieces that are considered "fun and trendy" are a not really my choice or taste.  I like to stick to the classic pieces and then pair them with trendy (less expensive) items from other stores.  The Eloquii line is the perfect choice for the working professional.  The choices for classic suit and office styling are really nice.  I think that the sizing runs small.  I ordered 14/16 for my tops and 18 bottoms, which is what I usually purchase when shopping plus size stores.  But I had to return everything and get 18/20 sweaters and 20 bottoms. Still not sure if the 20 bottoms will fit, we'll see.  Also, all the sleeves on the sweaters i purchased are short - 3/4 length. I was surprised to learn this, but not to bothered by it.
PROS - I really like the quality. I really like the classic styling.
CONS - I think the sizing runs small. The sleeves are short.

So here is what I purchased in my haul, with small commentary on the items that I have worn:

 These were really cute, but I had to return them because they were a little more snug than I like.

So I returned and got a larger size. I also purchased the tanks to match.  I should have ordered the purple one too...I think Imma add it to my cart.

 I really ordered these because of the orange one... I loved it. I got the brown one just because I needed to buy extra to get the discount. 

 GORGEOUS!!! Love Love these... These colors are my sorority colors so I knew I would get good use out of these.  The sleeves are still 3/4 length, which is different but not bad.

 FA REAAAALLL - this was a beautiful purchase. And yes, the sleeves are 3/4. Basically the pics are decieving, look at how its scrunched at her elbows.  This would lead someone to think that the sleeves are long.

 I adored this. And when BFF Courtney saw this, she wanted one too.. so when they went on sale again, I snagged her one too. I hope she likes it as much as I do.  I want to find a red skirt or maybe my red jeans to wear this with too..

 Im not sure that these are going to fit. I bought a size 18, but they were a little to snug for me. I returned them for a size 20, but we'll see. Since they are on sale, Im not sure they will be in stock. I especially like the red one.

I grabbed this one just cuz it was cute.. but Im still not sure how I will wear it.

Here is what Im wishing for:

 FA REAL - you know these shirts are sexy as haaaaiiilll!!!.. I couldnt decide on which color I like best. And I reaaaallly want an Obi Belt.

 Im not sure about the length on these sleeves. But I hope they are long sleeve. The color on this jacket is perfect for spring. And the other jacket is just too too caauute! Cant you see me in these??

 I already have a classic trnch, but the quality is not that good. Its stays wrinkled.

I think this one would be perrfect for me.

eShakti Review

A few weeks ago, I bought this dress from eShakti for BFF Court.

still available in the salfe section for $35.95 in sizes 1X (18W) and L (12).

 She had no idea what she was going to wear to the event for her mom, and I think this dress was the perfect selection. Since I made this purchase for her, I figured I would do a review of the dress. Sadly, I didnt take a pic of her in the dress by herself, but this is a good roundup of how the dress looked! (sorry for the repeat photos from previous post)

Details (from eShakti website):
A rolled high collar frames the decorative buttons at the back on a harvest toned fleece knit dress fashioned with matching buttoned large flap pockets. Pleats beneath the inset waist ease the fit through the skirt.

Slips on over head, partial side hidden zip closure. Princess seaming to shape. Knee length. 100% Cotton, loop knit fleece, light stretch, midweight.

The REVIEW:
The material and quality of this dress is impeccable. I had some slight trepidation when I read that this dress had no lining, but the heavy fabric was of good quality and the lining was not needed.  The pockets on this dress are darling. And since BFF Court is a shorty.. the length fit her nice.  The high waist band and large box pleats offered a very slimming effect to her midsection which is always an added plus.

I dont have a good pic, but I wasnt pleased with the collar. It didnt really stand, or droop like I would have wanted it to. Im not sure if the fabric was too stiff or if it was the cut of the collar. In the first pic, the collar looks nice. In the other pics it looks a little off.  I think if this dress were made with out the collar it would be just as nice.  Although, the collar is somewhat the element that makes this dress unique.  So, the verdict is still out on the collar, because it may look different without the need for the cold weather accessories (ie cardi).

Because of the weather, she wore a black cardi over the dress with black tights and tall knee boots.  The weight of this fabric would suggest that this is a Fall dress, but because there are no sleeves, its needs a cover (ie cardi) or a tshirt to cover your arms. I dont think that it will be a summer dress, but it may very well transition from Fall to Spring.. (and even winter with the right added garments).  I can see wearing this dress with a variety of different colors especially yellow. That would be really cute.

In my opinion, I have had good outcomes with the custom sizing on eShakti. I have read that others have not had as much good luck. Although this dress was not custom sized, it fit perfectly. The bodice fit well and because it was an Aline bottom, you cant really go wrong.  Overall, this was a great dress selection for a great occasion.

 

 

Just a little late

WHEW! It was rough this morning.  I guess I was used to wearing pink, and I still had a few looks that I had not worn but I was ready for a change.  Plus the looks that I had left werent really for a Fun Friday. I may go to happy hour after work, so I wanted to be cute.. and comfortable.. and I reaaaaaally reaaaallllyyy wanted to wear my new Jalisa Lace Back Tall Riding Boots from Avenue.  I adored these boots the moment I saw them. And I liked them so much I bought both colors, but the brown ones I ordered online (and a coat) and they havent come yet.

So I was late (just a little) getting to work, cuz I had no idea what I was going to wear. This is exactly why I select my weeks wardrobe on Sunday or Monday... that way I can easily jump into my clothes during the week.  I guess wearing all that pink got me a little caught up.. but I made it through, lol!

I thought that the orange coat was a little to bulky with the sweater. So, I chose to wear the green leather jacket. I thought it added a little color

Jalisa Lace Back Tall Riding Boot Review:

So I wanted to do a review of the boots that I think are so soo cute!

PROS:

These boots are HAWT! And they are seriously in fashion.  They go well with skinny jeans, denim jeggins, or leggins of any kind.  And I can see myself wearing them with a long denim skirt or even a short denim skirt. I cant wait to get the brown ones in the mail. I even want to find a way to wear them with a dress or skirt.. any suggestions? send me pics.  Another benefit is that they actually fit my calfs (or is it calves?) and I can slip my jeans down in there. I have tried a few different tall boots (some I can fit and others not so much. Mostly I can fit the stretchy boots - either fabric or that fake leather [more on that later]) But this is the first pair that I can slip my jeans down in. I was super excited when I tried these on! .. "These boots is made for walking!"

CONS:

They dont really fit.. I know I know.. silly - but I needed a 7 1/2 and they only come in 7W or 8W.. they skipped the half size all together, duuuuh!!! Some of us do wear 7 1/2.  The other issue I have is that they are not leather. I like quality items. So I would much prefer that these were real leather.  Also, since I had to get an 8W, I think they are a little to slouchy at my ankles. I dont really prefer them to look that way, but oh well. I like them to lay more flush against the flesh (say that a few times, lol)

**Side Note: Hubby wasnt really feelin the boots.. he said they remind him of riding boots from the 80's. And I remember those boots all too well.  In Baltimore we wore riding boots but the lace up was in the front. And we wore "city boots" with the elastic band at the top near the calf. I was lucky enough that my mom actually bought me a pair of riding boots. In a camel color. They were perect. And I am happy to replace those with this new Jalisa pair.. Everything old is new again!

Why wait??? .. - Eshakti Review

So I was offered to review an item for eShakti. And when I was asked, I was totally elated. As we all know how much I like their styles and craftsmanship. I blogged about them here and here.

I selected this dress to review, and I must admit the experience was awesome!!! I LOVE this dress. I got it in the mail yesterday, and I was so excited to wear it that I could hold off on this one, I had to wear it today.

So here is my REVIEW:

PROS : This dress fits amazing. I love how it feels and it really is perfect in all the places that I tend to have issues with other garments (ie arm hole to large, or not fitting properly in the top). The color is perfect and I love the flowers at the shoulder. The black bands hit at the perfect location to cinch in my waist and are very comfortable. This is a goodversatile dress for day or night. It feels very comfortable on and it was a great choice.

CONS: Mostly the cons for this dress are all my fault. As you can see I have on a pair of crop leggins. When I ordered the dress, I said that I wanted it to hit me mid thigh (I ordered the dress 'Above the knee').. bad choice, clearly this was a misjudgement on my part because eShakti sent me the dress exactly as I requested (thats a good thing ofcourse). But I think its a little to short [on me], especially for work so I wore leggins. If I wasnt going to work I would have worn the dress without the leggins (maybe). I think I will be sure to request that all my future dresses/skirts are atleast knee length or mid-calf in some cases depending on the dress. Previously I had issue with non-existant linning on the skirt I reviewed. This dress could have had a linning too, but its not needed as was the case for the skirt. But it would have been a nice bonus to the construction of the dress. The last thing, Im not sure about is, how will this dress hold up after washing. I will let you know.

And since we are considering virtual shopping. Here are a few more items that I would love to have from eShakti. And I will probably order a few more dresses before the summer is over. some of these styles I have liked since I first found their website.
